DVRaptor Test Readme file
This is a software program to check your system performance before using the DVRaptor.

1.How to start
 1. Copy the five files (raptst16.dll,raptest.exe,raptst32.dll,raptstnt.sys,readme.txt) to your hard disk, or to a formatted floppy disk.

 2. Run raptest.exe.
When you are running on Windows NT 4.0, you will have to logon as an Administrator or a User with an Administrator authority.

2.Information display area
[Overlay]
When you do the overlay check, it checks through the DirectDraw overlay surface.
The test will inform you whether your display card supports overlay or not.
During the test, you will be asked if the color patterns are displayed properly.(The color bars will be white, yellow, cyan, green, magenta, red, blue, black)
If they are displayed properly, click yes.

  * Your display card may support overlay only in certain screen resolutions, color depths or refresh rates. You may try changing the monitor settings and test again, before changing to other display cards.

Warning : This test will only check the Direct Draw capabilities of your graphics accelerator card; if your graphics card does not have enough memory bandwidth, or for other reasons caused by your graphics card, the overlayed image might not be displayed properly.

[Machine Info]
 1. Windows version : DVRaptor supports the following Windows versions -
                     Windows 98
                     Windows 98 Second Edition
Windows NT 4.0+Service Pack 4 or later
                     Windows 2000

 2. Computer : This shows your system's CPU type, CPU clock and amount of memory.
*The CPU clock may differ according to your system's current state.
*Amount of memory shown is the amount that Windows can currently use. It may be less than what you have installed.

                    (System requirements)
CPU: Pentium 200MHz MMX or over
For software preview, PII 400 MHz, Celeron 400MHz or over
                    Memory: 60MB or over

 3. PCI BIOS version : The PCI BIOS should be higher than version 2.1. (PCI BIOS version will not be displayed in Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000)

 4. Chipset : If the chip set is unknown, DVRaptor might not function properly.

 5. PCI Latency Timer : The latency timer should be set to higher than 60. If this value is too low, the DVRaptor may not function properly. This value can be changed in the CMOS setup of your computer.

[Hard disk performance]
This test will measure the read/write performance of your hard disk. Set the hard drive that you wish to test, and click "HDD Test". The results will show automatically.
The transfer rate needed for DV data is 3.6MB/s, but to avoid OS overhead and capture audio data at the same time, it is better to have at least 5MB/s.

If your hard disk performance is below 5MB/s, the bar will show in Red. This means that there is a possibility of frame drops during capture and playback of DV files.

If it is between 5MB/s and 8MB/s, the bar will show in yellow. This means that this hard drive can be used in normal procedures, but might have frame drops when handling heavy data, such as mixing four channels of audio data.

If the data transfer rate is higher than 8MB/s, the bar will show in blue. There should be no problems in using this hard disk with DVRaptor.

Warning!! : The value calculated is a rough estimate of your hard disk performance. The test will not insure the system compliance with DVRaptor.

[DV Connection]
This test will work when you installed the DVRaptor to your system, and connected your DV camcorder. The test will determine if you have connected your cables properly.
